Photos and videos are a hugely important part of your day in the same way that the caterer and the band is. They are something that you will be able to pull out on a rainy day in ten years time and look back at the day, the people and wonderful time that you had, and share it again with the new people in your life.
In our experience the cost of photographers changes wildly, just like with live wedding bands. It is a case again of you get what you pay for, and the difference between people just starting out and those that have been at wedding for many years and know the best way to get everything done. Put it this way, I have a camera, would you book me for your wedding? Of course not, you want someone that really knows their craft, has great people skills, has possibly been to your venue before, and someone that once the day is over, can get you beautifully edited photos back to you to look at.
With the photos/videos themselves when you are looking round your venue/location have a thing about where would be good for photos to be taken. The last thing you want is to have some great looking photos but to have an unsightly building in the background (for example). Most venues will have greta outdoor spaces so think about how you can best use them, but also what happens if the heavens open and you are forced inside. Obviously any good photographer/videographer will work with all circumstances, and will make the most of the weather, location and lighting, but it is a good idea for you, in advance, to have thought about some shots that you would like.
The most important thing to remember and take on board is that you like the person you are spending your day with. They will be there whilst you are having your final bits of hair and make up done, first look photos, right through to the first dance and whilst the band get going!
A few general top tips
I know, I know, some of these are things that of course you will ask, but a lot of people forget about things in the wedding planning process, and there is a lot to plan so of course.
