Dawn and Lee had a some very specific ideas, and were drawing some total blanks on what they wanted for their music. We were able to help them choose some great songs for the processional, register signing and recessional as well as arrange and play their first dance.
The Ceremony Music
In mid 2017, I (Matt) put up a short video of an acoustic version of Toy Story's You've Got A Friend on Instagram Dawn loved it and asked me to play it as one of their songs for the signing of the register. It is a brilliant song and one which I am sure the band will be playing again. Dawn and Lee walked in to How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You and out as husband and wife to Jackie Wilson's Higher and Higher, a fitting end to a lovely wedding ceremony.
For their first dance Dawn and Lee had this classic tune......
This is actually not a song that the band has played before so it was great to learn something new and perform it live with the 4 piece band for Dawn and Lee.
This is the second time we have played at Shenley Cricket Club and it is a venue that we love.
There are so many great areas that you can utilise on your wedding day and we absolutely love the conservatory area where you will have your wedding breakfast. It is gorgeous and even thought the weather wasn't quite on our happy couple's side, the venue still looked stunning.
We have a few more booked in at Shenley over 2018 and into 2019, and we can't wait to be back there for another awesome celebration.
Dawn and Lee had our Aisle To End Package. We covered everything musical from the start to the finish of the day, kicking it off at the ceremony with our acoustic duo which then followed the guests upstairs to the drinks reception.
The duo was then joined by the rest of the band in the evening and became our full 4 piece band. Dawn and Lee also had our manned DJ option to make sure that the dance floor was full all night long.
Huge congratulations to Dawn and Lee, we hope you have an amazing life together and we know how happy you will be!
A few months before the big day, we met with Claire and Richard at their lovely home to discuss they music that they would like throughout the day and if there were any special requests they would like. We were lucky enough to be able to play their processional, register music and recessional for their ceremony as well as their first dance as husband and wife.
Signing the register
The first dance
The first dance that Richard and Claire chose was a big one! Not only is it one of the most loved wedding songs around, but it is also one of our night enders, so kicking the night off with it really setting the tone of the rest of the evening.
We have a great list of first song ideas that we have played before. You can see them all on our weddings page.
Gate Street Barn has, for many years, been on of the best loved and most popular wedding venues in Surrey and the UK, and it lives up to that reputation every time we are there!
Gate Street has recently undergone a huge transformation with the way it looks and how the venue is laid out. Last year, the spaces were fantastic, but weren't all joined together. Over the winter they have added a new entrance hall, joining the main barn to The Pheasantry where the bar is in the evening, as well as added many other lovely parts to the venue. They have also redecorated throughout with their gorgeous Pigeon Green colour.
The newly created area between the main barn and other areas is a brilliant space and is where we set up the acoustic duo for the drinks reception, and was also where the gin bar was. This set up works really well to entertain guests whist they get a drink, and in the summer can also be opened out into the garden so that brides and grooms having their photos done can also enjoy everything that is going on around them.
The redesign has transformed the venue from a great venue to one of the best in the South East!
If you are looking for a brilliant venue with fantastic staff and a wedding team that really know what they are doing then look no further. Take a virtual tour of the venue below.....
Wedding Ideas we loved
Claire and Richard's wedding had a few things that we absolutely loved.
!! congratulations !!
Massive congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Broadhead! We wish you all the best and a very happy and fulfilled life together.
Party at the Palace
Sometimes, just sometimes, we get very luck and are able to perform at some seriously incredible venues. March was a bucket list moment for the band where we got the chance to play at Hampton Court Palace for a very swanky corporate shindig. It was made even better by the fact that we had our amazing core band fronted by one of our newest singers Grace out, but also that we expanded the band to a 6 piece live party band with the addition of keyboards and saxophone. This is one of our favourite line ups and one that lends itself to all styles of music and tastes, and truly is the best party band. We might be a little biased with that last remark to be fair!
Now some parties like this one can be a fairly calm and very business like affair, and some can be like this one where the guests really let their hair down and go all out for a party. This absolutely made the night, with the band getting requests from guests, many conga lines, and dancing from all ages all throughout the night!
We love performing with our core 4 piece band, but adding sax to the band really does lift the performance and sound of the band to another level and one that we are really looking forward to doing a lot more of in the coming year. If you haven't checked out our awesome party and wedding band line ups already, make sure you do to see exactly what we can do for your event.
Happy New Year! We hope that you all had an awesome Christmas and end of year celebrations full of family food and fun.
We had an awesome final gig of the year at Manning's Heath Golf and Wine Estate in Sussex. This is quickly becoming one of our favourite venues in the county.
The spaces on offer, the food and of course the wine are second to none and the level of service and standard that they provide is exceptional!
They had a couple of requests for the band and the DJ which we were of course happy to play for them and punctuated the evening perfectly. Sam wanted the last song of the night to be 'Don't Stop Believing; by Journey, a classic end of the night tunes that had everyone on their feet singing with the bride and groom.
When we're not performing for our lovely wedding clients we love to play at corporate events, charity fundraisers and Christmas Parties.
This corporate event at The Cutty Sark in Greenwich was a pretty special one. The Cutty Sark is an impressive boat from the outside, but the event space is underneath the boat in the old dry dock. It is seriously impressive to be performing directly underneath a massive boat!
We performed with our 4 piece band to make sure the client had the option of having us performing in the background for our first set to keep a great chilled vibe. We were then able to liven up the second and third sets to build a proper party atmosphere with all the great party tunes that we perform from Ed Sheeran, Michael Jackson, Maroon 5 and some classic Motown from Stevie Wonder. The Cutty Sark is a big space and the client had just over 300 guests in the space, making for a great social event.
their wedding and included the DJ to keep the party going in between the band sets.
We had our acoustic duo performing for their wedding ceremony and drinks reception and then the 4 piece electric band and DJ for their evening party. We worked with Daisy and Steve to create the perfect wedding soundtrack to their big day.
